Credentials

The Hopewell Network provides credentials for the Senior Pastor of the local church, Apostolic Team Members of the Network, and five-fold and trans-local leaders. If the spouse of a Senior Pastor is also considered a Pastor, and they fulfill this role together, we will credential them as a couple. If the spouse has another type of role that requires credentialing, this will be done by the local church.

All other credentials for pastoral staff and ministry leaders will come from the local church. All of these credentialed leaders are accountable to their local church for their personal lives and ministries. The Senior Pastor and Elder Team will discern who is eligible based on Network guidelines, and will follow the Network procedures for credentialing.

We request that the names of the individuals being considered for ordination in the local church be shared with the Network Apostolic Team for any counsel they might have prior to the ordination, and their application be placed on file in the Hopewell Network office. Once this process has been completed and approved and their application is on file in the Network office, their credentials will be recognized by the Network. We recommend that a person be in the congregation for a period of time before being credentialed.

Five-Fold, Trans-local Credentials

Five-fold and trans-local leaders who are not pastoral staff of a local church have the option to apply for credentials through the Hopewell Network or through the local church in which they hold their membership.

The local church pastor needs to recommend the minister for credentialing to the Network if a Network credential is being requested. Pastoral support for the leader and family flows from the local church to these leaders. An application form needs to be completed along with an interview with the Network Apostolic Team.

Five-fold leaders are encouraged to attend the Network pastors’ functions for peer support and encouragement. Those with Network credentials are accountable to the Network for their ministry.

An applicant must fulfill the required qualifications for Network credentials.

Transfer of Ordination

This can be done by transfer or by a new ordination. Transfer for those other than the Senior Pastor and those credentialed by the Network will be done through the local church. The Network reserves the option to license a person ordained elsewhere for a period of one year before granting Hopewell Network ordination.

International Licensing and Ordinations

The Hopewell Network will credential the International Apostolic Network leader. Other International Network leaders and pastors will be credentialed by the International National network in that country.

Renewal of Credentials

There will be a two-year term for a pastoral license and a five-year renewal date on ordination credentials.

Ordination cards will expire on the year ending in 0 or 5. Those who continue to meet the qualifications for ordination will automatically have their cards renewed for another five years.

Those who qualify for continued ordination are those who fit one or more of the following criteria:

  • Leads a Hopewell Network Church
  • Attends the monthly Hopewell Network Pastors’ Meetings, if geographically practical
  • Attends a Hopewell Network Church
  • Has some arrangement of accountability and contact with one of the Network Apostolic Team Leaders (or local Network pastor if it is a local church ordination)

Those no longer pastoring a church and desiring to maintain their Hopewell Network ordination are expected to give half of their tithe to the Network and half of their tithe to the local church they are attending.
