Watching for Comets - by Curt Malizzi

A new interstellar comet has been discovered passing through the solar system. Discovered by Ukrainian amateur astronomer, Gennady Borisov, it passed by the earth on August 30, 2019. Recent observations show that this distant visitor has a hyperbolic orbit traveling at a whopping 68,700 mph to never return. It appears to have a coma and a slight tail suggesting this really is a comet.

Comets are cosmic snowballs of frozen gases, rock, and dust -- roughly the size of a small town. When a comet's orbit brings it close to the sun, it heats up and spews dust and gases into a giant glowing head larger than most planets. The dust and gases form a tail that stretches away from the sun for millions of kilometers.

Jesus said for us to, “Look Up” to the heavens . . . Luke 21:25-28 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.

There are unusual signs happening in the day we are living in. There is also much distress in the nations of the earth: famines, flooding, earthquakes increasing, and political control being battled for. But, this should not be distressing for a Christian . . . a true Born Again Believer who has the Holy Spirit dwelling in them. This does not catch God by surprise. He has a plan. He always has a plan.

God is preparing the earth for his climactic return, first to catch away his church in a sudden moment, and then to come at the end of the tribulation where every eye will see him. We who are believers will be caught up first in a flash, in the blink of an eye, and the world will not know what happened. World events will begin to happen over a seven-year period and then his return will come in a different way, in a way that all people of the earth will see him, and he will display his greatness on the earth and over Israel.

So, let us keep our eyes in the heavens on the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the plan to catch away his church. He is the ark of safety for all believers. Then, as verse 28 says… then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.
