We Can Be Blessed in Any Season of Life - by Pastor Allan

Psalms 84

An elderly man was taking his evening walk. He was enjoying the crisp night air and the sound of the wind blowing through the trees. Suddenly, he heard a little voice calling, "Help me! Help me!" The man looked all around and saw no one, so he continued his walk. Again, he heard the tiny little voice, "Help me! Help me!" This time he looked down and saw a small frog.
He gently lifted the frog and looked at it intently. The frog spoke, "I’m really a beautiful young princess. If you kiss me, I will turn back into a princess and I will love you forever." The man thought for a moment, then he placed the frog in his top pocket and continued walking. The little frog looked up out of the pocket and asked, "Why don’t you kiss me?" The man responded, "Frankly, at this stage in my life, I would rather have a talking frog!"

What we want from life changes from season to season. We have seasons where we may desire success and fame as well as seasons where all we want is one night of uninterrupted sleep!

But no matter what season we are in, we can understand the value of being blessed. If you feel blessed than you will be thankful and be better able to enjoy life.

Psalm 84 gives us a short list of where we can find that blessing.

1. There is blessing in the presence of the Lord
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they will still be praising You (Psalm 84:4 – NKJV).

2. There is blessing in a journey that depends on God
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage (Psalm 84:5-7 – NKJV).

3. There is blessing in praying for those in authority
O God, behold our shield, and look upon the face of Your anointed (Psalm 84:9 – NKJV).

4. There is blessing in serving the Lord
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness (Psalm 84:10 – NKJV).

5. There is blessing in living upright lives
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11 – NKJV).

6. There is blessing in trusting in God
O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You (Psalm 84:12 – NKJV)
